In a rare collective diplomatic action, twenty-two countries including the United Kingdom, United States, and numerous European states have publicly condemned Iran for orchestrating deadly attacks on their territories. The coordinated statement, issued on June 11, calls on Tehran to immediately halt its aggressive campaigns targeting civilians and dissidents abroad.

European Security and British Interests Under Threat

The joint declaration, signed by Germany, Albania, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, the UK, and the US, highlights a growing security concern for Europe and its allies. Intelligence agencies have linked Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its overseas unit, the Quds Force, to a series of plots against Iranian dissidents, journalists, and Jewish communities.

"Attempts to kill, kidnap, persecute, intimidate, or otherwise attack people on our soil undermine national sovereignty and international norms. These actions must be stopped immediately," the statement declares.

One of the main groups implicated is the Iran-affiliated "Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia" (Islamic Movement of the Right-Handed Supporters), which has claimed responsibility for attacks on synagogues and Jewish communities in the UK, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

For the UK, the accusations come amid heightened concerns over domestic security and the safeguarding of minority communities. London markets have been closely monitoring geopolitical tensions involving Iran, given potential impacts on sterling and investor confidence. The UK government’s firm stance reflects its commitment to countering foreign interference and protecting national interests.

Within the broader European context, the coordinated condemnation underscores the unified approach European nations are taking to address threats from non-state actors linked to Iran. The campaigns by the IRGC and proxy groups represent a destabilizing factor not only for security but also for economic stability across the continent.

London’s financial sector, sensitive to geopolitical risks, has already factored in the implications of escalating tensions with Tehran, with market analysts advising vigilance given Iran’s history of using proxy forces abroad. The solidarity among European and allied countries signals readiness to respond diplomatically and through intelligence cooperation to prevent further attacks.

As investigations continue, the UK and its European partners face mounting pressure to enhance security measures while balancing diplomatic relations with Iran. The joint statement marks a clear message that transnational aggression undermining national sovereignty will not be tolerated within the UK and across Europe.
